-Coil Springs:
A coil spring is used to absorbs shock from the road. The coil shape is what allows this to happen.
They also help with vehicle stability for better handling and passenger comfort.
-Leaf Springs:
This type is one of the oldest types of springs. The leaf spring itself has an arch shape to it, the middle of the arch is where the axle sits. The way it works is the leaf spring sits under the axle so when the axle comes down, the springs make sure it doesn't go too far down and then brings the axle back up.
-Torsion Bar:
A torsion bar is a long bar that attaches to the chassis on one side and has a lever on the other side. This is mounted perpendicular to the bar which is attached to the suspension arm or axle.
