Suspension Types

There are many types of suspension for vehicles, hers a few different types:
MacPherson Strut:
The MacPherson strut uses the axis of a damper as the upper steering point.
The way this is set up is it has the coil spring over the shock absorber. This means that it is very simple and cheap to make. However, it also means that the ride quality and handling are negatively affected.

Multi-link Suspension:
This suspension type uses multiple arms which connect to the wheel hub. This means that the designer has the ability to involve both good ride quality and handling. But, the disadvantage of this set up is that it is very complex and also costs quite abit of money.

Double Wishbone:
A double wishbone includes two wishbone shaped arms that connect to the wheel hub.
Each wishbone has two mounting points, one to the chassis and one to the hub.
There is a lot of things that can be adjusted on it e.g. Camber, Caster and Toe.
Double Wishbone set ups are commonly used for racing purposes.
